    我爷爷曾经听过这样一个故事：

    从前有一个仗义的的广交天下豪杰的武夫。他临终前对他的儿子说：“别看我自小在江湖闯荡，结交的人如过江之鲫，其实我这一生就交了一个半朋友。”

    儿子纳闷不已。他的父亲就贴近他的耳朵交代一番，然后对他说：“你按我说的去见我的这一个半朋友，朋友的要义你自然会懂得。”

    儿子先去了父亲认定的“一个朋友”那里。对他说：“我是某某的儿子，现在正被朝廷追杀，情急之下投身你处，希望予以搭救！”这人一听，容不得思索，赶忙叫来自己的儿子，喝令儿子速速将衣服换下，穿了这个并不相识的“朝廷要犯”身上，而让自己的儿子穿上“朝廷要犯”的衣服。

    儿子明白了：在你生死攸关的时候，那个能与你肝胆相照，甚至不惜割舍自己的亲生骨肉来搭救你的人，可以称做你的一个朋友。

    儿子又去了他父亲说的“半个朋友”那里，抱拳相求把同样的话说了一遍。这“半个朋友”听了，对眼前这个求救的“朝廷要犯”说：“孩子，这等大事我可救不了你，我这里给你足够的盘缠，你远走高飞快快逃命，我保证不会告发你……”

    儿子明白了：在你患难时刻，那个能够明哲保身、不落井下石加害你的人，可称做你的半个朋友。

    那个父亲的临终告诫，不仅仅让他儿子，也让我们懂得了一个交友的真理：你可以广交朋友，也不妨对朋友用心善待，但绝不可以苛求朋友给你同样的回报。善待朋友是一件纯粹的快乐的事，其意义也常在此。如果苛求回报，快乐就大打折扣，而且失望也同时隐伏。毕竟你待他人好和他人待你好是两码事，就像给予和被给予是两码事一样。你的善只能感染或者淡化别人的恶，但不要奢望根治。当然，偶尔你也会遇到像你一样善待你的人，你该庆幸那是你的福气，但绝不要认定这是一个常理。

    因为人生只有一个半朋友。
